The Conservation Commission met June 25 and 26 at August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area, St. Charles, Missouri
Commissioners present were:

The next meeting of the Conservation Commission was set for August 4 and 5 at Conservation Department Headquarters in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Commission meetings are open to the public. Those wishing to be placed on the agenda for a presentation or other business must send a written request to Director, Department of Conservation, P.O. Box 180, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0180, or FAX 573/751-4467, at least 10 working days before the meeting date. The deadline for the next meeting is July 21.
THE COMMISSION RECEIVED PRESENTATIONS FROM
- Shaw Nature Reserve Director John Behrer concerning a Shaw Nature Reserve and MDC partnership.
- Policy Coordinator Janet Sternburg about Conservation Opportunities for the Mississippi River.
- Wildlife Management Chief Bill Bergh and Financial Services Manager Melanie Crane regarding MDC Agricultural Crop Operations.
- Conservation Federation of Missouri Executive Director Dave Murphy and Wildlife Diversity Chief Gene Gardner concerning Teaming with Wildlife Initiative.
- Private Land Conservationist Max Alleger provided a Prairie Chicken Update.
- Design & Development Division Chief Bill Lueckenhoff presented the Major Construction/Development Projects Status Report.
- Chief Financial Officer Roger Luebbert provided the Monthly Financial Summary.
- Human Resources Division Chief Debbie Strobel concerning personnel reclassifications.
- Wildlife Diversity Chief Gene Gardner regarding new and expanded Missouri Natural Areas.
REGULATIONS
The Commission accepted the report of the Regulation Committee which included a report from the Permit Restructuring Task Group and updated urban deer management guidelines.
ADMINISTRATION
The Commission also approved:
- Accepting a recommendation to sell approximately 0.92 acre, grant a permanent easement on approximately 0.19 acre, and grant a temporary construction easement on approximately 0.51 acre of the Springfield Nature Center in Greene County to the State of Missouri.
- Accepting a recommendation to sell approximately 22-acre Hurricane Deck Tower site in Camden County to the Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District.
- Accepting a recommendation to purchase approximately 10 acres as an addition to the Ralph and Martha Perry Memorial Conservation Area in Johnson County (Tract 1).
- Accepting a recommendation to purchase approximately 10 acres as an addition to the Ralph and Martha Perry Memorial Conservation Area in Johnson County (Tract 2).
- Accepting a recommendation to purchase approximately 233 acres as a new conservation area in Benton County, and to name the new area the“Ionia Ridge Conservation Area.
- Suspending hunting and/or fishing privileges of seven people for Wildlife
Code violations. Those whose privileges were suspended are:
Dustin R. Beasley Greenfield 1 year all sport privileges Skylar R. Cline Maysville 1 year all sport privileges Nick A. Lockhart Bolivar 2 years all sport privileges John R. Loechel Fenton 4 years hunting Gerald W. Mitchell Pierce City 5 years hunting Brett E. Newlon Springfield 1 year all sport privileges Brandon M. Steiner Maysville 1 year all sport privileges - Suspending or revoking all hunting and fishing privileges of 173 Missouri residents and one nonresident who are not in compliance with applicable child support laws.
- Suspending hunting and fishing privileges of 202 people under the provisions of the Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact.
